The Empire Theatre is a high profile public space for the Toowoomba community, with construction dating back to the 1800s. The redevelopment included a new three-storey, 350 seat theatre with bar and amenities.

RMA was engaged by Hutchinson Builders to provide civil, structural and hydraulic engineering services, noting RMA’s local knowledge and expertise. RMA designed footings that allowed for bored piers that resulted in minimal construction issues. Our structural team also incorporated tilt concrete panels to help the construction team in achieving the tight project timeframe.

RMA worked collaboratively with the architect and builder to integrate requirements of each engineering discipline, providing cost savings and ongoing feasibility of the project, whilst remaining within the constraints of the planning and development requirements.
