RMA undertook a significant traffic study for the largest hospital within the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service centrally located within the City of Toowoomba.
Queensland Health engaged RMA to identify solutions for the future that will support the level of access that stakeholders expect from a hospital service.
RMA identified options that would improve vehicular and pedestrian flow within the campus through a Sustainability by Design assessment framework, which facilitated a collaborative approach with the project stakeholder group, including state and local levels of government, in identifying a holistic and integrated picture of infrastructure and operational solutions. The collaborative approach identified directions for short, medium and long term planning, supported by outcomes of pedestrian and traffic analysis and safety reviews.
The transport assessment was based on detailed traffic and pedestrian video surveys of the hospital site and its external interfaces. Integrated land use and transport solutions were ultimately identified with the stakeholder group that would provide, true, whole of life value outcomes that align stakeholder expectations with the strategic direction for the hospital.
