The LifeFight base in Toowoomba provides emergency medical treatment across Queensland and New South Wales, saving thousands of lives each year. The base is home to two AW 139 Rescue Helicopters, as well as pilots, air crew officers, engineers and medical staff, making it an invaluable asset to the greater South East Queensland community.
RMA worked with Hutchinson Builders to deliver the new $4.39 million base, providing structural, civil and hydraulic engineering services. The new facility was designed to be a one-stop-shop for LifeFight, allowing them to respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently. RMA’s structural team were faced with the challenge of incorporating an internal overhead crane supported by wind trusses with the hanger’s large sliding doors. This required detailed modelling and design optimisation to ensure the design would be functional and efficient.
