Toowoomba City Library

Toowoomba City Library

Hutchinson Builders engaged RMA to deliver stormwater, hydraulic and structural engineering services for the new Toowoomba City Library. RMA liaised with the project architect to deliver an innovative, cost-effective and fit for purpose outcome.

RMA’s optimised stormwater management plan saved over $200K by implementing a bio-retention solution and redesigning the water quantity components.

RMA’s structural team worked extensively to find footings that worked with the soft surface layers and high water table. This included utilising timber piles in place of 13 columns and associated footings, as well as reducing the shoring from 130m as sheet piles down to 60m of bored pier and shotcrete. These alternative solutions provided savings of over $200K.

RMA’s hydraulic team found $150K in savings by replacing the diesel pump sets and onsite water storage with a separate water supply.
